Westinghouse WGen9500DF vs DUROMAX XP13000EH
Warranty / Certifications
My son has the same model! Works great! Can’t wait for the next power outage! LOL ! I’ll be the only one in the neighborhood with power!
Looks like a solid, well built and thought out machine. Very east to set up, clear instructions.
The WGen9500 DF satisfies all my requirements for a home back-up generator. After months of research, I purchased this one because it came with all the options and power necessary to run our entire house during a power grid outage, plus- there are so many excellent reviews for Westinghouse products...
Solid product. Easy setup, started on first try.
I bought this as a backup generator for my house and when I work out in the middle of no where. Great machine! Remote start and the propane option are always plus! Haven't found anything it can't run yet!
Everything looks great, excited to use this generator. But something isn't right with the carb, it is leaking a lot of fuel. Haven't had time to investigate further. If i needed it to run right now it would have to be from propane.
I bought this after a large number of people around me lost power. Very easy operation. Just hit button and starts right up.
I wanted a portable that could run my whole house, even the AC if need be. While this unit can't run everything simultaneously, it can run everything I need it too, even my HVAC if I have my other heavy hitting circuits on standby. It arrived just in time for winter, and I no longer worry about prol...
Easy to set up and use! Very easy to start up and turn off with the automatic remote control. Will highly recommend to family and friends!
I bought this a month ago and it took me a little while to get around to starting it for the first time. Had a little trouble, but worked it out (make sure the 'auto' choke engages, it might need a little help). Lots of power and less noise than my previous generator.
Questions & Answers
will this power a house with central air or would the ultra duty be better for this purpose
It will power your important items such a refrigerator, TV, etc, but not the whole house.
Depending on what BTU your central air is, the WGen9500 has more than enough power to supply most central air conditioners up to 40,000 BTU.
I've never used a portable generator before, so sorry if this is a stupid question. Can you run t...
Oh, Kelly - NO! Short answer, but many die each year - not only running a generator inside the house, but even when it’s in a garage, or on a screened porch, with the garage doors open! Carbon Monoxide is a very silent, deadly killer. A generator MUST be outdoors, well away from a home, in a well-ventilated area. We had a couple down the street from us who died during Hurricane Matthew, after running a generator on their screened porch. Hope this helps, but be safe!!
no, there are no portable generators that can be used indoors
what is the best way to lower the noise when running generator outside in open space
Improved Mufflers will make a little improvement, but the majority of the noise is harmonic and the most effective way is to erect a sound barrier around it. You can find examples on You Tube.
I'm unable to answer this question other than to suggest referring to the manufacturer's documentation.
Build an opened front doghouse with a hinged lid (for serviceability). Add thick foam interior to walls for added damping. Also gives weather resistance.
Build a temporary enclosure around it by leaning insulation board against it. Make sure to leave room for the exhaust to escape and also plenty of air for cooling. This does help.
I use a Zombie Box https://www.zombiebox.com/ to enclose my WGEN12000DF.
i plan to hook the cord from generator to an 50 amp inlet (reliance pb50) which will be connected...

Hi Ken,

Yes, you will have to float to neutral.

If you float the neutral, that bypasses the safety feature of the GFI outlets on the generator itself. You can (not recommended), but be sure to have the load side protected.
