Westinghouse iGen2500 vs Westinghouse iPro2500
Warranty / Certifications
Works as expected. Biggest generator for hand carried use. Starts on first pull.
This unit arrived in perfect condition, filled the crankcase and fuel tank and it fired up after 2 pulls. I use it with a 30amp transfer switch on my home for power outages. We have frequent power outages due to the poor infrastructure in our area. It runs my refrigerator, freezer, lighting and a 60...
I have done just basic testing, running it for a few minutes, but it is way better than a regular generator. I tested it close to an A/C compressor and it is almost as loud as the compressor. The efficiency mode is a good feature if you are running (only) small loads. The led display is very helpful...

My son bought two of these after much research. He uses them in tandem to power an arch-welder and all of his power tools in his 20 ft long trailer workshop; and he is quite satisfied. For me, I own a Lance camper and travel for a living, and sometimes I am away for months at a time. I needed a port...
spark plug was cracked replaced it, and plug gap was .020 should be .032. the igen 2500 still runs with a miss and sputter every 5 seconds plastic black shield under the exhaust not fitting flush unit gets really hot on top of it the igen2200 stays cool. The led display shakes hard to read .
The generator handles the load well with a low noise level. Most generators in its class can not candle the camper and its AC but 2,200 running watts gives that little extra kick that you need to do the job. The only real problem that I have had with it is when it is cold. Cold as in when the outs...
The inverter/generator was everything I expected.
It was purchased (spring 2019) for RV camping. I have verified it starts my camper air conditioner and microwave with power to spare. Digital display is helpful, especially for output voltage, watts and fuel remaining. Very quiet, hardly audible from inside the RV. Also purchased 3 yr extended warra...
Have had unit for 2 weeks and able to break in using a 13,500 BTU Air Conditioner that pulls 50% load. Unit looks like it was rushed together as some plastic covering was not fully in place and showed plastic stress once removed from box. Mostly just cosmetic but hope it is just that and the motor...
You never know when you need it . I took several Pictures of the contents and box for you
Just received generator but am loving it so far. Should come in handy.
Just tried my new iGen2500. Easy to start and very quiet!
Nice and quiet! works great! Price was right! AAAAAA+
I bought this to compliment my WGEN 12000DF which is beast. Great quality as well. Westinghouse is a great brand.
Bought 1week ago and was happy with how light and easy it is to use
Unit has a sturdy handle and is relatively easy to move around. Runs very quiet.
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my husband I will have to give you my review after Christmas.
I bought this a few months ago and it has been a gamechanger for our camping trips!
Questions & Answers
Can anyone who has run an RV Air conditioner tell me how they did it without the 30 Amp style plu...
As the other answer shows/just get the adapter/ I ran my 13,500 BTU on my Eurovan with the older model 2400 discontinued green Westinghouse inverter generator with zero problems using the adapter.
That plug is actually a 120v 20amp plug... 2500watt peak / 120v = 20.8amp. On start up, a healthy AC of that size should pull a tad over 15amp... Which is why a 20amp breaker is what is installed on most RVs for it. You use an adapter at the generator and your 30amp "shore cord" or an adapter at the RV and the lowest gauge (thickest), shortest length extension cord you can find.
I think it depends on your air conditioner. The previous answer saying a 15,000 BTU AC only pulls 15 amps is nonsense. The locked rotor starting amps of my 15,000 BTU AC is ~55 amps. I was unable to start my AC with just the generator (everything else was secured at the breakers). I have ordered the Micro Air soft start kit and hopefully once installed it will allow this gen to power the AC.
You can buy a Twist lock cord that hooks to RV and and a 15 amp 110v end that will plug unto generator, a 15000 btu air should need about 13 amps so thats about all you will run, i have 2 of these paralled together when only the AC is on one generator will idle down to nothing while the other runs full speed (wish they would split load) but one does run the 15000 AC
I bought the Westinghouse parallel cord and plugged it into both outlets. It has the 30 amp plug and two 15 amp plugs. Works great.
It would not run my 15k AC until I installed a microair soft start. That made all the difference in the world. Now, generator loafs along with the AC fan running, when the compressor starts up, 2500 gen spools up and runs at 1800 watts
There is a thing you can buy called a softstart that lets you start your RV AC at about 2000 watts.
You need a easy start kit for your compressor. Then there is no huge draw that trips the genny. https://invertersrus.com/product/micro-air-easystart/?gclid=Cj0KCQiA-aGCBhCwARIsAHDl5x81-yyxOedrzL4v78Y7-x1NnxqArEGXqTyAn8sjJ9HD3UTaRYMtTMEaAuepEALw_wcB
Can a hour meter be installed on this generator
A simple one with with a pick up coil wrapped around the spark plug would work but i am not sure where you would mount it unless you used 3-M double sided tape.
Yes, it's installed on mine before !st start
Doesn’t say it anywhere in the documentation but there is an hour meter built in to the display!
Only if you want TWO... READ THE D DESCRIPTION... IT REPORTS 1. REMAINING RUN TIME. 2. POWER OUT KW. 3. FUEL LEVEL. 4. VOLTS. 5. LIFETIME HOURS. SO, MAYBE YOU NEED GLASSES?????
As of today's date, 6-2-20, The HD picture that shows on the far right pix of the LED display showing lifetime run hours is CORRECT... Verified by Westinghouse Rep that the now shipping Igen2500 units DO have this feature. The HD link for the manual as well as the link at Westinghouse for the manual is INCORRECT.... My unit should be here next week and we will see and re-verify upon receipt of the unit... Westinghouse is aware of the current manual error and is now revising the manual for this Igen2500 and is revising. (sorry - you really do not need glasses :-)
Just received mine on 1/13/21. Although the very informative box doesn’t show it, once I unpacked it, the unit is upgraded with the meter that shows total run hours. Rick
does it have USB ports and 115V outlets ?
Yes, it has USB ports.
Yes it has both
Yes two USB ports (up to 4 or 5A total if I recall) and two 120V three pronged plugs.
Yes. Two 115 outlets and one USB Port.
why would you use a 2000 watt generator to power a 1 watt usb? Use a battery for that.
Is there a fuel shutoff valve, so you can drain out any fuel for long term storage?
No fuel shut off valve. Also, perhaps related, the gas tank has a built in vent that is always open and goes directly to the air box. It doesn’t have a vent on the gas cap like the smaller model or many others. You can drain the fuel directly from the carburetor bowl though, and that has a drain hose. It’s small gauge and the flow is very low, however.
To drain fuel for long term storage, please follow the instructions outlined on page 19 of your owner's manual.
I don’t see the data center as described. Where is it located? Thanks
The LED panel is just below the name of the manufacturer on the control panel.
There is no data center on the iPro2500.
Hello, the iPro2500 does not currently have a data center. The iGen2500 does come with an LED Data Center that displays volts, fuel level, remaining runtime, and power output.
I see that, I do not see the run time or the fuel level like on the Westinghouse igen 2500.
Hi! The iPro2500 does not currently feature the LED screen like the iGen2500. If you have any questions, give us a call at 855-944-3571. Thank you! -Westinghouse Customer Support
There is no run time or fuel level on the iPro2500.
i wanted to run about 1300 w of small stuff.....700w of which is a refrig/freezer which has surge...
Yes, the iPro2500 has automatic overload protection which will shut the engine down when it pulls over the wattage.
Will this power a full-size refrigerator, a 7 cubit feet freezer and a few small things?
The iPro2500 will be able to power your refrigerator and freezer with ease as well as a small few items. Please be sure to double check the power specifications of your desired items to ensure it falls within the 2500 starting watts and 2200 running watts of your generator.
