What can I say? This makita router is powerfull and well built. I believe that it may have been the most expensive they offer. A bit pricey, but as the old expression goes "you get what you pay for". Well worth every dollar!
I have the router mounted in a table and use it to make raised panel doors. It is smooth and strong and leaves a great surface when used with sharp bits. Two passes on a raised panel leaves me a clean edge. The variable speed is great and the router is a lot quieter than my 1 1/2 hp router.
This is a top notch router. However, be warned that the straight edge guide as shown in the picture is not included in the box. The manual does not identify it as an optional accessory like other accessories. Seems a bit misleading...
I have a older one and love it. The only difference is ,the power switch is on the handle which I don't like , as the older one is not!!! That's just my preference. Great router though!!! I would buy it again.
This router is a solid machine. At full plunge there is little vibration while cutting laterally. Lots of power.
I like the weight. It aids in stability. The handles and trigger feel good and the trigger lock works well. Plenty of power. I like the automatic spindle brake too.
It came without the 1/4 inch collet, spanner wrench, or owners manual. Those are supposed to be coming in the mail. It has lots if power and runs smoothly. Still loud, but better than some. Worth the price.
Powerful, sturdy. I love his trigger in the handle, also has a led light to see what you're doing with detail. At least mine is made in Japan.
was nervous that there wouldn't be much of a difference in power between this and my milwaukee 1 3/4 hp router. this router is a huge upgrade. never bogs down, is quiet and comfortable. if your router seems underpowered this will do the job.
Great router but I am completely baffled that not one of the reviews I read on this router makes no mention that it DOES NOT come with a carry case. It's not mentioned in the specs either. Close to 3 1/2 Benjamins and no case. I just stared at the open box for several seconds upon discovering this....
Mounted the router to a 3/4" thick phenolic router table - and still able to change bits from above. Easy to change heights - comes with an above table handle, and removing the plunge spring for table use is a great enhancement. I have not used it free-hand, so cannot comment on that use or the acc...
Excellent value for the price I paid. Might be a tad heavy for hand held use for we older users, but for use in a router table, which is what I bought it for, it works great.
Everything advertised is right on. The only thing that has bothered me after about 3 hours of use is that the dust shroud is not as good as advertised. Even when hooked up to my shop vac it blasts a fair amount the other side. As a dedicated router for a table, this is a great and the dust isn't as...
I bought this router after burning out a 2.5 HP Dewalt trying to roughy miter lock joints in QSWO. This router fit very nicely under my router table. The above table height adjuster and automatic spindle lock make bit changes a breeze (no more craning my neck from under the table while I try to make...
There is little to not like about this beast. Bit changes are easy and power is in spades. I used my military discount so received another 10%. HD also had the best price on this tool. Anyway I purchased the router for use in a router table and so far it is working great. I only wish the Triton rout...
I needed a powerful router that will be permanently mounted to a router table. I need to be able to change bits easily from the top of the table, connect to the table's built in power switch, adjust the bit height accurately from above the table, and avoid clogging the motor when removing a lot of m...
Put this in a router table and I love the above table adjustment. Drilling the hole in the router plate for the above table adjustment handle was a cinch and it works great. Plenty of horsepower and relatively quiet as well (but may be due to router table). Bit changes are quick and the automatic sp...
I purchased this router to mount into my router table to replace my 2 1/4 hp "other brand" router. Since mounting I have used profile, straight and round over bits in it. I just cannot believe the smooth power the Tritan cuts with. Honestly it should with nearly 50% more hp! but the smoothness combi...
Great router for what I bought it for. Table mounted application. Plenty of power. Very easy to adjust and even fine tune from underneath your table. And the rack and pinion makes coarse adjustments quick. A bit heavy and awkward for hand use.
This Triton TRA001 was lemon forever stuck in the plunge mode, couldn't get it to engage for use in the router table so rather than trying to take it apart and see what was wrong brand new out of the box I took it back to the nearest HD store with no issues. It has a very funky and awkward plunge gr...
Questions & Answers
Can I use this plunge router with my track saw track?
Thank you for your question, but we will require more specific information in order to provide an answer. Call the Makita Call Center during business hours at (800)4-MAKITA, they’re based in Buford, GA and are ready to help.
can the bit be raised from the top of the table?
Yes, the handle is included (part #24 in the manual). But if your table doesn't have a hole in the right spot, you'll need to drill one through the table yourself. I found a YouTube video of someone modifying their Incra router mount for this router to allow the height adjustment from above the table.
Yes simply unlock the plunge lever and adjust with the included handle. This was one of the primary factors in purchasing this router.
the new one does.
yes it comes with a cool feature to lower and raise infinity tools makes a insert plate drilled with spacer inserts.
Yes, you can raise it up from the top of the table. You need to raise it up to top to lock the shaft and and change the bit. Comes with a lift handle, though it's not heavy duty.
