bought this to sand rough cut oak as i was making a cutting board. easy to use, plenty of power. long cord is really handy. dust collector works well.

I've run this sander about seven hours, almost constant. The ergonomics are great. I especially like that it is not top heavy like the old Porter Cables. I have run belt sanders for a lot of years (both in the building trades and as a woodworker) and this tool impresses me as well designed. I did no...

Great tool! I also have the Porter Cable 3x21 belt sander. The makita 4x24 covers a larger surface area and is great for leveling large glue ups such as table tops.

Had been using a less expensive Black & Decker sander for several years and finally got decided to buy a more powerful, easier to use sander. This Makita is excellent - cut my sanding time in half (or more)

I looked at belt sanders for several months off and on before purchasing this belt sander. I am one who reads reviews of tools before I buy, taking into consideration the thoughts and experience of those who purchased this sander before me, before I made my purchase. I have to say this belt sander h...

I ordered this online with free shipping and a $20 discount too. It arrived on time via UPS without any dings or scratch. The motor is not loud compare to other expensive branded sander on the shelves today. The weight is perfect and is also easy to manuver clockwise and counter clockwise it depends...

I have had 3 belt sanders over 15 years. Each time I took a step up. Wish I would have started with this one. I recently made a large table and only had to stop leveling it to move around the table and empty dust bag. A really excellent product. Very quiet too. I recommend to all at any experience l...

Bought this sander for the purpose of refinishing a 20+ year old deck. I tried several belts, and the Shopsmith 36 grit ceramic from Lowe's took the abuse the best, followed by an 80 grit to smooth up. I ran the sander almost continually for 2 -3 hours at a time, only stopping to empty the bag or to...

This replaced my old Skill 22 3/4 which finally died afters years of service and the build quality feels the same as well as the power

Sanded two projects, a table and a bench, worked great. Plenty of power, smooth action, belt easy to adjust and a long cord make this the best sander I've ever used.

Worked great right out of the box. Sanded wooden stairs with seventeen steps 12"x4' and only used four belts. Dust collector bag worked better than my old sander but I hooked it to my shop vac and it picked up 95% of the dust. Tracking was true and belt change takes 30 seconds. Turn sander upside do...

This Makita replaced my dewalt and I prefer its quality. The belt adjuster actually works and the belt stays once set. Time will be the true decider

I bought this sander to use on very wide rough cut pine counter tops and table. I put on 40grit paper and it worked great. The vacuum system picked up most of the dust and was easy to use. The long cord is a plus.

The dust bag works. The sand belt tracking works well and does sand close to corners. I use it to remove paint from my deck and I wish it has a little more power but it is fine as it is. Make sure you countersink the nails or they will rip the sand belts. I have some vertical surface to work on late...

This sander is a little more expensive than other 3x21 in. sanders but, after my first job with it, I was very proud of my choice. The difference in power was noticeable right away. the belt tracking was 1st class and boy, I couldn't believe how quiet it was. This tool is first class all the way.The...

Why did I wait SO long. This was a replacement for a craftsman that burned out. I struggled for years with that craftsman for 2 decks that need re doing every 2-5 years. This worked so slick and easy.... I look like a pro! Its a little heavy for vertical sanding but a belt sander is usually used for...

Did my homework and picked a winner. Very powerful and well built. Easily does the job.

Performes well as described. Runs quiet and the belt runs true. The belt remove lever is easy to move to the open position.

No exceptions here, the belt sander lived up to my expectations. It's a bit heavy but that's probably because it's made with metal parts and not plastic.

I purchased this to replace an ancient belt sander that I destroyed. I choose this one because of a favorable review by Fine Woodworking magazine. It certainly does the job. I used it to smooth a glued up 3 x 6 foot oak table top. The sander worked through the project quickly and best of all it capt...

How is this to hook a vacuum to it?

Thank you for your question. The 9403 4" x 24" Belt Sander hooks to the Makita VC4710 12 Gallon Xtract VacĀ® Wet/Dry Dust Extractor/Vacuum via 192108-A 3/4" x 10' Vacuum Hose.

Very easy, has a collection bag or disconnect and connect a vacuum hose.

This works for me the 22mm to 1" tool cuff adapter, the OD fits inside the 9403 connection and the 1" side connects to my shop vac. The 1" side is threaded, still works on my straight shop vac hose. Bonus the ID fits over the random orbit sander BO5041.

Does this sander come with a carrying/storage case?

No this sander did not come with a case - I have moved all my tools to the Makita interlocking containers.

Does Not ... but it is a good tool. I've had mine .. the second one .. for over ten years. I am a general contractor. For the most part, I find the quality of Makita tools to be superior to almost all the other brands. To compete with cheaper tools, they have dropped in quality on a couple, notably inexpensive drills, but the heavier tools (like this one) remain top quality.

No it does not. I comes in a box just as you see it.

unfortunately no, just a box. I will say that this sander is a beast and will mow through some wood very quick. So you need to be careful otherwise you end up taking too much off and getting into trouble. Good luck

I need the weight L x W x H

The product dimensions are Belt width 3 Product Depth (in.) 11.63 Product Height (in.) 6.19 Product Width (in.) 6 Product weight 9.5lb

L x W x H is 12 x 6.5 x 5.5

The weight of the Makita is good for most jobs but I also own a Porter Cable unit as well. I found that it has more weight for a faster aggressive cut into hard woods. Both of the belt sanders are a good quality and I have not had any problems with either unit, it also comes with a dust collector which does work well with either unit.

9.5 lbs LxWxH: 11 5/8 x 5 5/8 x 6 1/4

Thank you for your question. The 9903 3" x 21" Belt Sander is 11-5/8" L x 5-5/8" W x 6-3/16" H and weighs 9.5 lbs.
