20-Volt MAX Cordless 1/4 in. Impact Driver

20-Volt MAX XR Cordless Brushless 3-Speed 1/4 in. Impact Driver

Very nice tool, well built, good power for a battery powered tool. Good value.

I've been in construction 35 years, and these 20V tools work much better than any 18V tools I've used in the past. The batteries last longer, and the tool is strong right up until the end of the battery cycle. Multiple speed settings plus the variable trigger help out in tough situations. The only d...

I love the DeWalt recip saw, it is powerful and precise.

This saw is easy to operate and runs hard and long on a charge.

The Quick Change Wheel Release is widely featured, but never detailed, explained, or demonstrated. The User Manual never mentions it. My new DCG412 has "Quick-Change" on the hub, but you need the tool to get wheels on and off. Try to find useful information buried in all the safety and legal goop.

Easy to operate. Fast and powerfull. light weight.

Great tool for cutting bolts, chains, rebar, tile, or what ever!

Flap grinder and cutoff wheels interchange. Always plenty of power, never bogs down. Not too heavy. But the wrench has no storage pocket or clip on the tool itself and I'm always hunting for it.

Long life battery. Very comfortable. Quick change blade

Great product at a great price - fast shipping! Pairs up with my 20v cordless drill batteries. Very hard to find tool! Only con is it weighs a lot and doesn't feel real balanced, but is great for fast portable jobs.

Questions & Answers

20-Volt MAX Cordless 1/4 in. Impact Driver

Do I need special bits for an impact driver? Do the bits from my regular drill work?

No, you do not need special bits for an impact driver.

YES, specific bits are required for an impact driver with a quick change chuck.

Hi Beginner, Typically, you will need to purchase additional bits for your impact driver. Try a google search for "bit types" with the words dewalt impact driver. John

No you do not need special bits, the one from you drill will work.

yes

No

Yes. Impact drivers require special bits that are longer than the ones I had with my regular drill. You should be able to search for impact driver bits and find some nice kits of them.

I use specific bits for Impact Drivers. I tried standard bits I use on my cordless drill, and found the bits made for the impact driver work far better and hold the fastener more securely.

You need 1/4 inch bits. A regular round drill bit won't work unless it has a 1/4 inch base.

Regular bits from a drill won't work. The drill shank must be hex-shaped, otherwise there will be slippage due to the hammering action.

Is this brushless?

No, the DCF885C2 is not brushless.

No. They sell a brushless one for more money. I read another reviewer who said that the brushless might have a slightly longer life but were not quite as powerful. I chose power over a possible usage time extension.

No it’s not

yes

All decent cordless drivers, including this one, are brushless these days.

Can I use this drill with 18-Volt batteries?

No. This drill can only be used with 20V batteries.

No. While some Dewalt tools do allow you to use either 18 or 20 volt batteries, this one only has the connection for the 20 volt batteries.

All the 18 volt batteries that I've seen have a post that is inserted up into the grip. This one does not use that kind of battery. I don't believe it will work with an 18 volt battery.

Hi Le - You can get a convertor stem that will allow you to use a 20v battery in your 18v driver. However, you cannot charge the 20v battery in the 18v charger so you will also have to buy a compatible charger. Hope this helps.....Lee

can this cut-off tool cut concrete

No, the item should not be used to cut concrete.

Yes with the proper blade! But plan on using big battery, and try to reduce the dust from the concrete! Will assure your grinder will last!

Yes it cuts into concrete put u need to buy a diamond blade to cut it good. I brought my dewalt cut off tool last year still working great but it was a bit heavy on batteries until I brought the flexvolt 60v battery the only job to use with this tool

I’m not sure about concrete, but it went through plaster and the wire mesh quite easily. I’ve been pleased with the performance of this tool.

Yes you can cut anything with the right blade. You would need a diamond blade for concrete.

Will a DCB207 battery work in this saw? I have DCB207's with my Dewalt 20 V drill

All 20v bat work with this tool

Yes it will
