The DeWalt 13 Inch planer compares well to similar style units. Seems to bridge gap between low end and high end units. Appears to have addressed most design concerns related to lower end units while remaining portable and affordable.

This planer seems better built than others I've used- it certainly weighs more & seems safer to use. I like the thickness adjustment that stays put for repeat run throughs. The indicator that tells you how much would be planed off before you feed the stock is a help also; it avoids damaging the wo...

Excelent tool for a small shop. Makes full depth cuts with little or no problem. Finish setting produces very good surface quality. Controls are all well located and easily operated. This is hands down the best small planer I have owned. Unless you are doing high volume or production work this plane...

I have had an opportunity to use all kinds of planers from small to large industrial quality planers. I purchased my Dewalt Heavy Duty Thickness planner because I felt it best fit my shop, my need and my budget. The performance of this planer is first class for its size. Sure, I wish I had a 36" pow...

The planer does cut very smoothly, and doesn't snipe boards unless there is a severe warp preexisting in the wood. The standard knives don't stay sharp when using on old wood (recycled) probably buying the carbide knives is the solution. The problem is that Home depo don't carry these replacement pa...

I purchased a DW735 13 inch thickness planer to start my woodworking hobby, I am glad I did.... This planer has THE SMOOTHEST finish of any planer in its class, and I have used many. The two speed transmission is a must when planing for finishing touches, I rarely have to sand my projects because of...

I just bought this planer and realized a problem with the first board. The original set of blades had a nick in them. I turned them around and started seeing wear on the reverse side after <50 bf. I am only cutting clear pine. I checked further and found that a new set costs ~$50 and there are no up...

The DeWalt planner is great. Very nice finishing cut. I did not even have to sand my cedar boards. I cut the boards with a chainsaw mill and finished them with the DeWalt and the results were fantastic.

I bought this planer to primarily plane hardwoods for musical instrument construction. I've ran curly & birdseye maple, black walnut, mahogany, and rosewood through it with very few issues. The surface finish is terrific and the planer has plenty of power to handle everything I've thrown at it so fa...

This planer is a great machine. I always got the smoothest cuts, even when set on the highest feed rate on highly figured wood. It is rather heavy so it just barely qualifies as "portable" in my book, but can definitely be moved around. You won't have too many problems with snipe, even without the o...

My first planer had to be replaced because it was eating motor brushes after about a month. Dewalt shipped me a brand new plaer without hasse. I have had this planer for nine years and have used it to plane approximately 150 board feet of white oak and 100 board feet of mixed hardwood. I was impress...

I have had this piece of equipment since late 2005 and have been very pleased with it's performance and durability. I typically use this machine for planing 5/4 rough sawn stock to size and have been very pleased with how it handles this task. I have run beach, birch, black cherry, black walnut, red...

I have had my planer for a month and half now and have used it approx 3 times a week since i have run red oak, white oak, hickory, walnut, soft maple, and pine thru it several hundred board feet with no problems. Still have not reversed the blades.

I've been wanting a planer for a while, and this one was given to me for a birthday. It works excellent, and the cut was smooth even on very hard or figured woods. I really like the pre-cut depth meter on the front. It gives you a chance to back off the cut if it looks like you are going to take to...

It was easy to setup and ran perfectly the first time I used it. Solid construction and high quality also. This unit is heavy and doesn't vibrate around... it stays in place. I am not a pro but I probably do more than the average home woodworker. I use my planer a lot. I've used it on hardwoods and...

This is my first planer very easy to setup. Can't wait to see how it works over time. Pleased with my purchase! Great price 279.00.

Since what I do is mainly a hobby, and I don't use this tool everyday, so far its been great. It was easy to use right out of the box and I was plaining boards in less than 30 minutes. It's light enough for a one person move and operation, but I'd recommend two. So far, so good.

I reviewed several planners and for the money this one was my choice. When I received it, it was easy to set up and use. It is very accurate in the amoun of material removed. The scale is pretty close however a more accurate measurement with a rule is a must. Great product.

This is my second bench planer. Cutting the same type of boards that my first Ryobi did, this planer failed miserably. I have every intention of giving it away and buying a good one. I shall never buy a Dewalt anything again.

After running about 5 feet of boards through this taking off 1/64" the in-feed roller quit working. Now it is essentially an 80 pound paperweight.

hi woundring if i can use this in australia

We would not suggest using this in a country that does not use 120V of power.

I am pretty sure the blades spin the other way in australia.

Does this have a built in jointer?

No, it doesn't have a built-in jointer

No, it doesn't have a built-in jointer.

No - this is a planer only and does not have a built in jointer

You can plane edges of boards by making a sled that will hold the board upright. There are plans available on woodworking sites.

Is this powered by 110 or220

110. You will need a 20 amp breaker as this can pull a total of 15 amps. Also, I personally put a Shelix cutter head in mine because the stock blades suck.

Is is powered with 110v.

It's actually for 120 volts (USA standard).
